Oz Backpackers offers economical accommodation to
backpackers throughout Australia. Oz Backpackers realise they need a fully
interactive and animated web site and have approached your design company to
create an web site that provides backpackers with key information about
hostels, tips on travelling in Australia, information on popular tourist sites
and a booking form for travellers to be able to book accommodation.
I am going to create a fully interactive website which
advertises Oz Backpacking. The website will have many pages dedicated to being
a site that advertises backpacking in Australia. I will consider all copyright,
legal and ethical considerations throughout my proposal.
Target audience
The target audience for my website is people who are
travellers in the ages of 18 to 30. It’s more specific than that obviously.
What the website is holding is for people that are around the age of 18 to 30
because this is an age group which want to explore the world. This is the age
of students that go to college and university that want to travel the world and
explore what’s out there. This is usually for people that want to take
something called a ‘gap year’.
Visual style
The visual style of the website is bright and bold because
it’s trying to attract my target audience. My target audience is an age group
around 18 to 30 because it’s backpacking in Australia, it’s meant for a younger
generation of people. This means that it has to be a site that stands out from
any other adventure/hostel/holiday website because there is quite a few. The
titles and writing has to be bold and bright and a colourful gold/yellow
colour. The reason I have chosen a yellowy gold colour is because Australia is
known for having sun shine nearly throughout the year. The theme for the
website is a yellowy gold colour and a sea blue. It sounds very stereotypical
but Australia is known for having sea, sun and surfing. It’s something that’s
always been known of the country. The overall style of the website will be
brass and ‘wow’.
Layout
The layout of the website is unusual in my opinion. Instead
of having a clean cut straight websites with everything having its place and
everything fits, I wanted to mix things up. I want the images on the page to be
all over the page overlapping each other. All of the images must have people
that have gone on holiday to Australia with smiling faces, enjoying themselves.
The text boxes must be anywhere on the page, it doesn’t matter whether they are
straight, they can be on any angle and any shape, I want it to be wacky and
original. This is something you don’t see on many websites at all because they
are trying to look as professional as possible. But what they are forgetting is
to look fun and uplifting, which is something not many websites usually have
either.
The types of images
Like I have said, the types of images I want on my website
must be of travellers on their holiday to Australia, enjoying the holiday with
smiles on their faces. This must be from both genders because I don’t want the
website to be sexist towards either gender. The images must be of people in the
age group too, nobody older or younger than the specific age group. All of the
images we will use will all be copyrighted to the website and company which is
Oz Backpackers. All of the images will not be in any way offensive to any
religion or person. They will all be safe to anyone
Publishing format
The publishing format of the website will be done with
flash. I chose this format because it is the one I feel I’m most comfortable
with and I find it the easiest too. With flash, I can create animations to go
with my website. I will also use various programs to publish the website like
Dreamweaver as I have created a website with Dreamweaver before.
Legal and ethical considerations
I will and have already taken into consideration legal and
ethical considerations. I have looked through all of the images, text and
files, and nothing can be considered offensive towards anyone or any religion
of any sort. The website will be safe towards anyone.
